Visible Signs of Damage:
Mines on Leaves: Larvae create wavy lines, tunnels or irregular blotches between the upper and lower surfaces of leaves.
Drooping and Withering: Severely infested leaves may wilt, droop and gradually dry.
Stunted Growth: Young plants may show poor growth because damaged leaves cannot photosynthesise properly.
Reduced Fruit-Bearing Capacity: Heavy infestation reduces flowering, fruit formation and crop yield.
Premature Leaf Fall: Extensively mined leaves may turn yellow and fall prematurely.
Target Crops:
Brinjal, tomato, chilli, potato, beans, peas, cucumber, melon, squash, onion, garlic, leek, shallot, lettuce, celery, beetroot, broccoli, cauliflower and ornamental crops.
