Target Crops:
Maize (Corn)
About the Problem:
Echinochloa spp. are aggressive grassy weeds that compete strongly with maize for nutrients, moisture, sunlight and growing space. Heavy infestation during the early stages of the crop can suppress maize growth and adversely affect crop productivity.
Season of Occurrence:
Commonly occurs during the Kharif/rainy season, particularly under warm and moist soil conditions. Germination generally increases with the onset of monsoon rains.
