Target Crops:
Maize (Corn)
About the Problem:
Amaranthus spp. are vigorous broad-leaved weeds with rapid growth and high seed-producing capacity. They can develop quickly within maize fields and compete strongly with the crop for nutrients, moisture, sunlight and space.
Season of Occurrence:
Common during the Kharif and warm growing seasons. Emergence is generally favoured by warm temperatures, adequate moisture and disturbed agricultural soils.
